Ok, well, I’ve done one of these 7/7/7 challenges before. It was a while back and I posted a seleciton from my upcoming novel. This time, I’m mixing it up a bit and using my current novella, which is due out in the summer.
This latest challenge comes from, Lauren Gunter at Making The Novel A Better Place.
The rules:
- Go to page 7 of your WIP
- Scroll down to line 7
- Share the next 7 sentences in a blog post.
- After the excerpt, tag 7 other writers to continue the challenge.
Here is my writerly sample…Are you ready? Let’s go!
Excerpt from Vastian Lore
Frowning, Norarl stood and walked to her. ‘What’s that supposed-’ The bite of a blade between his ribs took his breath away. Cold metal burrowed into his heart meat.
He touched the hilt sticking out of his chest and fixed Arius with his gaze. ‘Why?’ He whispered, blood flecked his lips, clogging his throat like bile, like some vile poison.
Her amber eyes reflected only lamp light, there was no emotion within the metal of her stare. ‘Your brother was right. You’re not the right tool. You’re just dead weight.’
Slumping against the back wall, Norarl slid down the rough plaster and crumpled to the floor, next to the shroud, stinking of dried rose petals and lavender.
Hope that was good? It’s just a draft that requires editing, so hopefully it wasn’t too rough!!
I pass the gauntlet onto: Michael Gunter @gunterwriting/michaelguntertales.wordpress.com
Nathalie S London @london_nathalie
Claire Banschbach @TheRiseOfAredor
Kara Jorgenson @AuthorKaraJ
